What do you do for your birthdays? Birthdays are a FANTASTIC time to send appreciation for your existence out into the Universe! You exist for a reason and you are meant to be a creature of happiness, so what are you doing to fulfill all of that?

I have this idea that birthdays should be celebrated. Extremely celebrated. Most of us in this society are brought up to celebrate our birth and our life, and then the older we get, the more we try to pretend we don’t have another birthday. What’s that about, people?!

Think about the alternative to not having another birthday. Now give yourself a pat on the back and go out and have some fun already!! If you can- take the day off and do something you haven’t done before. If you can’t take the day off, take some time for yourself to really pay attention to the life that is surrounding you. 

Last week was my birthday and I didn’t want to take the whole day off. I love what I do, so I kept three clients for the day and took the rest of the day off.  I got out in the world and was living my purpose, and then I still had enough energy left over for some ME time. I did something I’d never done before- I got my fingernails painted this ridiculous bright pink color. Then I had tasti-d-lite for lunch!! That, I had done before, but just once 🙂

Point is, to do something new that will make you laugh at yourself, or at least smile. That’s the #1 tip for Life Appreciation Day

In the evening I went out with a fantastic gathering of my amazing friends, and appreciated the heck out of them!! I rarely get to see any of them, and it was so nice to have them in one spot for a few hours as we enjoyed each others company. I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep, but I was so high on life from all of their positive energy that it didn’t matter.

So there’s #2 of Life Appreciation Day: Hang out with people who make you feel fantastic!

On the weekend, I completely unplugged from the ‘Matrix’ and my wonderful boyfriend took me on a yoga retreat led by Chris Loebsack and Adi Carter in the Deleware Water Gap. There was camping, cake, new people, acro yoga, thai massage, slack lining and rock climbing!! New things for me to try, and things to do that I already know I love. The perfect balance!
