Did you ever start a project, only to stop because you got frustrated along the way? Well, here’s a little fact: We ALL get frustrated. Sometimes it seems we are moving backwards, when really we are moving in the right direction. Sometimes it seems like everything is going wrong and we are WAY out of our league. Sometimes it just seems like what’s the point?
And then there’s rejection, and OH that’s such a horrible feeling! So after a miserable failure, people laughing in your face, looking at you like “who do you think you are?!”, who wants to go right back out only to painfully fall flat on their face again? Not me. But here’s a little tidbit about persistence:
The point is, you have a passion, a dream, an idea, a GOAL! What are you doing to make it a reality? Do you stop after one effort? Two? Do you know how many times Colonel Sanders tried to sell his special recipe before he got a hit? 1,009 times. Would you have kept trying?
How many times did Thomas Edison fail with his crazy light bulb idea? One site I found said 1,000, but I suspect it was more.
Here’s my own story. As many of you know, I auditioned to teach classes at Equinox Clubs in NYC, only to be rejected. I auditioned at least 4 times. Rejected, rejected, rejected. I just kept on going. I came up with an affirmation and told myself I would be teaching ten classes at Equinox. I’ve now been a Group Fitness Instructor at clubs all over NYC for one year. Tomorrow I start a brand new schedule that has me teaching the ten classes I was aiming for! Mission accomplished, despite a LOT of rejection. I almost quit. I even took a year in between auditions. But I went back to it. And I feel like I empowered myself for bigger things yet to come. Come try one of my classes! https://www.equinox.com/GroupFitness/FindAClass.aspx Email me to try one for free- miranda@mirzukfitness.com
