We are into our 8th week of this fun free workout series all about how to workout with your kids (Yes, it is possible!). This week, let’s go HARD CORE.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve found yourself ridiculously to the point of tears frustrated with the lack of time & energy you have to take care of yourself after giving all of your energy away to everyone else. If you’ve got kids, they demand your energy and attention and that can leave you thoroughly drained at the end of the day.

The thing is, you KNOW that you’d have more energy if you could figure out where you could sneak in a little self care time. It’s beyond frustrating, like a never ending downward spiral that you know is going to end with you in a messy pile of snot & tears, unshowered & potentially sweaty, in a heap on the floor. (Please tell me it’s not just me!)

I’ve been there! I decided, when my first born was very young, that if I couldn’t actually schedule anything for my own self care into my day, that I would start my day looking for any opportunity I could take to do a few planks, or donkey kicks, or whatever really, as long as I was moving. It would end up being about 10 minutes a day, and many days those 10 minutes were split up into 2 minute increments. It was stupid hard just to get those 10 minutes in!

I think that the biggest mistake, when it comes to finding time for yourself to exercise, is looking for a sizable chunk of time when you can hand your child off to someone else or maybe waiting for that nap to happen (and then, of course, it doesn’t). Even if you are fortunate enough to have child care at your gym, you may be so exhausted that you can’t seem to ever get yourself there.

First of all, don’t aim for an hour. You don’t even have to go for 30 minutes. If you can figure out how to move your bod for at least 10 minutes a day, you’re on the right track. Really, trust me, you are. It’s how I got my exercise in for about a year. And I felt great and lost the baby weight both times. (It was a LOT of ‘baby’ weight! Like, 50 pounds. Seriously)

I strongly suggest making a habit of working out WITH your kids. You may think I’m crazy, but this is not the defining factor of that, I promise you. When you make a habit of taking care of yourself, your children see that, and they learn that behavior from you. It’s one of the best gifts you can give them. And if you do happen to be a member of a gym that has child care- that’s fantastic! But there will be days when strange circumstances arise (they always do with kids) OR maybe you’ll just be too flat out tired to even consider driving over there and all that’s involved with that. Those are the days to use these videos.

So before you think another thought of why you just can’t exercise, click the pic below and get to it! You’ll be so glad you did…
